Who this is for

Maastricht and the surrounding region attract people who did not grow up here: expats working at the university, the hospital or one of the international companies in the Euregio, people moving across the border from Belgium or Germany, and owners of second homes and holiday properties in the hills of South Limburg.

If you are furnishing a house or an office here and English is easier for you than Dutch, the whole process can simply run in English — conversations, plans, mood boards, shopping lists and the coordination with suppliers and trades.

What the service covers

Interior design: the plan for the space — layout, light, colour, materials, furniture and lighting, worked out so that decisions fit together instead of being taken one purchase at a time.

Styling: the final layer that makes a room feel finished and lived in, and that makes the difference on photographs.

Photography: interiors are photographed in-house, so the finished space can be used for a website, a rental listing or a company profile.

How a project runs

It starts with a free first conversation to see whether there is a match, and what the space has to do for you. After that comes a plan including a budget, so you know what the project asks of you before anything is ordered.

Then a mood board sets the direction, and a shopping list turns it into concrete items with prices. Where painters or other trades are needed, they are coordinated as part of the project rather than left to you.

Because furniture lead times differ widely, deliveries are planned in a schedule instead of arriving at random. The space is styled once the pieces are in.

The working area

Maastricht, Valkenburg, Meerssen, Sittard and the rest of South Limburg; Lanaken, Tongeren and Hasselt across the Belgian border; and the wider Euregio around them. Grietje lives on the border area itself, so this is home ground rather than a distant region.

Part of the year is spent in Lucca, Tuscany, where the same studio works on holiday homes and villas for international owners. Projects on both sides are planned around those travel periods.

What to prepare before the first conversation

Floor plans or rough measurements if you have them, photographs of the space as it is now, and a sense of what is not working. That is enough to start.

It also helps to know roughly what you want to spend. A budget is not a limitation in a conversation like this — it is the thing that makes a realistic plan possible.
