Interior design and furnishing for homes in Tuscany
I design, furnish, style and photograph houses and apartments in Tuscany — for owners who want a home with character rather than a catalogue interior. English-speaking, based near Lucca, working with local suppliers and craftspeople.
Buying a house in Tuscany is the easy part. What follows — a layout that works for the way you actually live, materials that suit a centuries-old building, furniture that fits rooms with no straight walls — is where most projects stall.
I do that whole stretch: the design and the moodboard, the budget, sourcing furniture and materials, custom work where needed, briefing painters and craftspeople where that is part of the assignment, the furnishing days on site, and the photography at the end. One person, one direction, from the first sketch to the final image.
Understanding the house
Thick stone walls, small windows, terracotta floors and old beams behave differently from a Dutch or British interior. We start from the architecture instead of forcing a look onto it.
Layout and light
Where do you eat, where do you retreat, where does the afternoon light land? Layout and a proper lighting plan do more for the feel of a Tuscan house than any single piece of furniture.
Materials that age well
Lime paint, solid oak and olive wood, linen, handmade ceramics, wrought iron. Materials that get better with use and cope with heat, humidity and a house that stands empty for weeks.
Furnishing and styling
Sourcing, custom pieces where standard sizes do not fit, a complete shopping list, and hands-on furnishing days until the last layer is in place.

From clients in Tuscany
“Incredible work”
We are beyond thrilled with the incredible work that Gri did in designing our apartment in Lucca. She understood our vision and brought it to life with a perfect blend of creativity and functionality, creating a space that feels both luxurious and inviting. She managed to harmonize modern aesthetics with the timeless charm of Lucca, making the apartment feel personal and deeply connected to its surroundings. Grazie mille, Gri!
Frequently asked questions
- Which part of Tuscany do you work in?
- Lucca and its surroundings are my base, and I work throughout Tuscany — Pisa, Versilia, the Garfagnana and Florence. I also work in the Netherlands and Belgium, so combining a project abroad with one at home is possible.
- I do not speak Italian. Can you help with suppliers?
- Yes. I source furniture, materials and custom work myself and deal with local suppliers and workshops. You receive the shopping list and the choices in English.
- Can you work on a house I have not bought yet?
- Often that is the best moment. With photographs, measurements and the listing I can tell you what the house can become, and roughly what furnishing it well will cost — useful before you commit.
- Do you also photograph the finished house?
- Yes. I am a qualified photographer and every project closes with a full shoot, so you leave with images you can use for your own website, for insurance or for a rental listing.
